Hello! I am Derek Andrews, woodturner, and owner of Seafoam Woodturning Studio.

Other than my dog Dash who welcomes visitors to the studio, I do everything around here myself, from buying the trees to packaging your parcels and making this website.

So the buck really does stop here!

Now, how can I help you?

Placing your order

All prices on this website are in Canadian Dollars.

Shopping cart

You can shop online using the shopping cart. If security is a concern, please see below.

I can accept payment by Visa or Mastercard.

Customers in Canada will be charged the appropriate sales tax:-

  • 15% HST in NS

  • 13% HST in ON, NB, NF.

  • 12% HST in BC

  • 5% GST elsewhere in Canada

Sales tax registration number 87033 4331

Shipping your goods

All items are shipped via Canada Post. The shopping cart will ask you to select an appropriate destination and use the 'recalculate' button to estimate the shipping cost.

If your actual shipping cost is significantly higher than the estimate, I will contact you before shipping.

Most orders within Canada are sent by Expedited parcel. If faster and guaranteed delivery is required, Xpresspost will incur additional charges. Please e-mail me for an estimate.

Most orders to the USA are shipped by small-packet airmail and are usually received in 7 to 10 business days, though this is not a guaranteed service. Larger parcels are shipped by Expedited Parcel™ USA with a similar delivery standard.

Although I don't recommend it, for more urgent shipments Xpresspost™ USA should get parcels to major centers in 4-6 days, but there is an additional charge for this.

Please remember that your shipment will be crossing an international border, and may be subject to customs delays, and duties or taxes may be payable.

Most international orders are shipped by small-packet airmail. Larger orders may need another service and I will contact you with details of the actual cost before shipping.

Trust, security & privacy issues

About

I started my first business, Sunrise Woodcrafts, in 1995, operating out of my home. In those early years I relied mainly on sales to tourists, but went on-line in 1999, and by 2002 the internet accounted for 40% of my sales. In 2000 I moved into a purpose built workshop and gallery. In 2004 I changed the business name to Seafoam Woodturning Studio for marketing purposes; it better reflects what I do, and where I am located. It simplifies advertising and road signage for the tourist market.

Trust

Are you dealing with a reputable business? That's a question that crosses most people's mind when shopping on-line or by mail. I hope that the information on this website convinces you that this is a bona fide business with many satisfied customers.

If you are worried about shopping at Seafoam Woodturning Studio please contact me so that I can address your concerns.

Security

Despite many people's concerns about using a credit card on-line, I believe that current security technology reduces the risk to less than carrying your cards with you wherever you go. I use the services of Mal's e-commerce to handle the shopping cart purchases from this web site. Mal's uses a secure server to collect your credit card details. When you get to the page which asks for your card details, check for the padlock symbol in your browser. (If you don't see it, make sure you have the Status bar turned on - check in the View menu).

But if you don't want to use your credit card online, I can also take your order by more traditional means.

Privacy

Any personal information that you give to me will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Under no circumstances will any information be passed on to a third party. I will only use your contact information in response to enquiries or orders.

If you want to be kept up-to-date with what is happening here, or to learn about new products and offers, please follow me on Facebook or Twitter.

Returns

Items found to be faulty due to workmanship or material will be repaired, replaced or refunded if returned within 30 days of delivery. Your shipping cost will be refunded.

If you are not satisfied with a product, please e-mail me to discuss the problem and return it to me within 30 days of delivery for a refund of your original payment.

(This latter option is not possible for custom orders, such as the personalized bottle stoppers / wedding favors. I encourage you to order a sample pack before purchasing a large quantity of these favors.)
